Nikita's Flame came out of nowhere and emerged like a storm! No one really expected this group that plays many styles -- rock, hip hop, dance and what they call "semi-rap" -- to make any noise. But the fast-paced band from western Missouri shocked us all with their hit single What's Your Price? a fast-beat piece about money and street life. After struggling to generate hits, this Missouri Machine, as their fans like to call them, struck gold with their second album entitled Burning Out of Control. Nikita's Flame not only sold out on their Burning Out of Control Album (which, incidentally can be ordered on amazon.com), but they also plan to stops in New York, Memphis, and Los Angeles this year. Their recent success makes them a band worth watching. Their songs examine life, loves, arrests, addictions, failures, and successes with surprising insight, making this a hip-hop/rap/pop "Missouri Music Machine" well worth the hype.

EMINEM VS. VANILLA ICE
WHO WAS REALLY BETTER?

Vanilla Ice was big in the early nineties. With his signature song, "Ice Ice Baby," he attracted a following of millions. Although his style was mainly rap, many people saw Ice as a pop artist due to his subtle lyrics, and glamour-boy image. Conflict and confusion over Ice's mysterious past (was he a gangster or not?), combined with a lack of big hits besides "Ice Ice Baby" melted Ice's reputation and image.
Eminem is the rap icon of the new millenium, and like Ice, has drawn a huge following. both rappers did movies (Eminem's 8 Mile & Ice's Cool As Ice). While Eminem is widely considered the most talented of the two, Ice is considered the more glamorous.
Our Pick: Eminem
It's a close one, but despite Eminem's sometimes controversial lyrics, he is the more talented of the two, and unlike Ice, Eminem was not a 'one-hit-wonder'.
[Now, A better matchup would be Eminem vs. G-Man of Nikita's Flame - but that's a battle we'll cover another day. STAY TUNED.] ;=)
